Why a coaching company built its own software.

For over 30 years the work has looked the same. Assess the person in front of you. Understand the life they are living. Design for the years ahead, not just the week ahead. Coach the whole person, not just their training. OPEX has been doing that with clients and educating it to coaches since 1999.

That work has never fit the industry's tools. Coaches doing it end up stitching it together themselves: a programming app here, a spreadsheet for nutrition, a notes app for the conversations that actually move the client. The tools were built to deliver workouts. Workouts are what the wider fitness culture asks for. The coaching kept happening in the gaps.

So we built CoachRx. Assessment, program design, nutrition, lifestyle, communication and the business behind it, in one place. Every feature is available from the first day of your trial, because a coach should not have to upgrade to do the job properly.

The platform is now led by the engineer who built the first coaching app the industry adopted at scale. He started as an OPEX coaching client and returned to OPEX and CoachRx to build the version he could not build then, on top of coaching principles that were already decades proven.

1999OPEX is founded by James FitzGerald. Individual Design coaching begins.

Coaching is a profession, not a side hustle or a content channel. These are the beliefs behind what we build. They are not rules for how you coach.

Person before programUnderstand who you are coaching before you decide what they should do. The assessment is the reason the program works.
Individual over genericNo two clients are the same. Their fitness and lifestyle should not be either.
Relationship over interfaceEvery feature gets judged on one question. Does this put the coach closer to the client, or further away?
