If you want to be seen as a professional coach and build your brand through content but every time you hit record you freeze or feel cringey, this one’s for you.

Staying off camera won’t fix the feeling and it won’t build trust. The only way through is reps. Not performative reps, practice reps.

Today I’m giving you a simple, zero-pressure routine to build confidence fast and start sounding like you on camera.

Why the Camera Feels “Ick” (It’s Not What You Think)

You’re not avoiding content because you lack ideas or don’t care. You’re avoiding it because it feels off, unnatural, forced, a little “influencery.”

Especially if you came up in the curated era of social, “raw” used to be frowned on, so now “showing up” can feel like pretending. You don’t need to perform. You need a way to practice that makes you more like yourself, not less.

What’s Working Right Now (And Why It Helps)

The content that connects today isn’t overproduced. It’s FaceTime energy, front-facing camera, direct eye contact, a clean takeaway. It feels like you’re talking to someone, not at the algorithm. That intimacy builds trust, which is the whole game for coaches.

Will it feel awkward at first? Yep. That’s not a stop sign. It’s a warm-up.

The 10-Day • 10-Minute “Yap” Practice

This is the simplest, most effective way I know to get comfortable and find your voice on camera. Do it exactly as written. No perfection. No posting required (yet).

Daily (10 minutes, for 10 days):

  1. Go somewhere private where you feel relaxed.

  2. Open your selfie cam. Hit record.

  3. Talk for 10 minutes. No intro, no setup, no script, just yap.

What to talk about:

  • A real question a client asked this week.

  • A belief you wish more people understood.

  • The tiny shift that helped a client finally get unstuck.

  • Something from your own training that changed how you coach.

Speak like your favorite client or coach friend is on the other side. Say what you believe. Explain why it matters. Share the “what to do next.” Stop when the timer hits 10.

That’s it. Done for the day.

What To Do With The Footage (Zero-Pressure Review)

After you record, watch it back (yes, even if it makes you twitch a little). This isn’t about critiquing your face, it’s about tuning your delivery.

Look for:

  • What felt like you? Keep that.

  • What felt stiff? Loosen that tomorrow.

  • One clean 10–30 second moment that lands. Trim and save it.

  • One line that could be tighter. Rewrite it for next time.

After 10 days you will:

  • Sound more natural and less scripted

  • Care way less about how you look/sound

  • Have 2–3 clips you could post without cringing

Bonus: you’ll also have a clearer sense of your content signature (the way you uniquely coach through content).

Quick Refinement Prompts (Use These While You Watch)

  • Can a stranger understand the payoff in the first 5 seconds?

  • Did I say the problem in their words, not mine?

  • Is there one micro-step someone can do today?

  • Can I cut 20% of the words and keep 100% of the meaning?

Trim. Tighten. Try again tomorrow.

From Practice to Posts (When You’re Ready)

When a 10–30 second bit feels right:

  • Add a title hook on screen: one concrete promise (e.g., “Missed breakfast again? Do this.”)

  • Keep the first shot visually clear (demo, checklist, timer)

  • Open with a crisp verbal hook (one breath)

  • Close with a value bridge (“Grab my [lead magnet] for the full checklist” or “DM ‘PLAN’ for the guide”)

Remember: brand in the feed, direct response off-post (bio link, email, DM).

Common Hang-Ups (And the Reframes)

  • “I hate how I look/sound.” Everyone does at first. You’re listening for clarity, not cosmetics.

  • “I ramble.” Great, now you know where to cut. Your future self thanks you.

  • “I don’t know what to say.” Start with yesterday’s client question. Answer that.

  • “This feels self-promotional.” Make it unselfish: problem → why it happens → one small fix.

Your 10-Day Checklist

  • Day 1: Hit record. Ten minutes. No do-overs.

  • Day 2: Same topic, tighter hook.

  • Day 3: New client question.

  • Day 4: Same topic, add one example.

  • Day 5: Belief → micro-step in 2 lines.

  • Day 6: Teach one fix, demo on screen.

  • Day 7: Story (client win), lesson, step.

  • Day 8: “Try this, not that” swap.

  • Day 9: Common mistake → quick correction.

  • Day 10: Your best take, trim one postable clip.

Post none or one, your call. The win is the reps.

Your Next Step (DM Me “yap”)

If you want the printable checklist and a quick setup guide (angles, lighting, caption prompts), DM me “yap.” @marketingforfitnesscoaches and I’ll send you the worksheet so you can start today.

You don’t need a bigger plan to earn trust. You need practice on camera that makes you more like you. Press record. Do it again tomorrow. Build the muscle.
